midtown Manhattan

For my second day, I decided to take the Broadway avenue till Times Square where I bought my entry tickets for the Empire State Building, Ellis Island and for the musical Hair. Consequently, the rest of my stay was planned. Well, on teh way to Times Square, I had the chance to see the Empire State building, Roosevelt's native house, Gramercy Park, Flatiron Building, the Rockfeller Center, the Chrysler Building and the United Nations building. On the evening, I walked up to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building so that I can have a magic view of the whole Manhanttan. To be honest, I just wanted to make me remember the romances of "An affair to remember" movie with Carry Grant and Deborah Kerr.

Financial district and Brooklyn Heights

Hello from New York under the snow. Yesterday, as a regular Business student, I went first to the financial district to see Wall Street and Ground Zero. I also walked along Brooklyn Bridge to see Manhattan from Brooklynn Heights (yes, this is me on the picture!)

Last friday, while it was rainning cats and dogs I went to Albin Polasek's house. Albin Polasek used to be an immigrated Czech sculptor.
His artwas inspired by his Slavonic roots and his Catholic faith. Many of his works of art were realized for churches such as the "Victorious Christ". The 14 Cross stations are both in the garden and in his private chapel. One of his masterpieces I really like is called "Evolution" and shows a man creating himself. The garden looks onto the lake and is full of sculptures. It makes me remember Buenos Aires botanic garden. There was also a temporary exhibit about the science fiction illustrations: it was very interesting because the graphism is very close to comics'.

On the way to Kraft Azalea Garden

Last week-end, I wanted to go the Kraft Azalea Garden, I covered the whole Park Avenue. There are amazing mansions, and here is the Floridan version of our Golfe du Morbihan pink mansion!!! As a matter of fact, I should name this American mansion under the name of "Barbie and Ken" mansion. Well, I finally found the Azalea Garden but the flowers haven't flourished yet!! But it is a peaceful place!! When I came back, my feet were totally hurt, so I put some leafs in my Converse!!

Zora Neale Hurston's festival

Yesterday, I went to the Zora Neale Hurston's festival in Eatonville which is a small African-American community located in the north of Winter Park.
For the 1st time, I've taken the bus which is not as horrible as American people had described it!! For sure, everyone with money will drive a car here that's why they overlokk public transportation. the good point is that now I feel able to travel every place alone. So, next step: Orlando downtown!!Well, lest's talk about Zora Neale: she was a famous African-American writer who died in the 60's, she had made anthropoligical studies and her books deal with very different subjects: voodoo, African people casual stories...Contrary to other African-American authors, she didn't try to positively portray people of her community, she just wanted to be right even if it was totally subjective... but in that sense, she has been a pionneer in auto-ethnography!!

Boat Tour: lakes Virginia, Maitland

On sunday afternoon, we've been on a boat tour in Winter Park. The different lakes are connected through canals and many millionaires' mansions are on banks. Mommy, you'll be so jealous. Unhappily enough, I'ven't seen any alligators whereas the boat driver had promised it to us :(

Rollins College campus

Here are some pictures of Rollins College campus. Dear friends from EM Lyon, you can see how poorly our campus stands up to!! You can see the "walk of fame" ( the below picture with the yellow wheel), where famous people 's names are written on stone along the walk just like Hollywood boulevard! Untll now, I have only attended one PMBA in Promotion Management, and it was quite hard to follow the American students.
